Over on Brenda Konkel’s blog she reports that new bus service between Portage & Madison has already begun….INCLUDING BIKE RACKS! I’m already envisioning loading the bikes up for weekend trips on Friday afternoon, busing up there, then biking around Portage all weekend, then catching the bus back on Monday AM. This would be a great way to extend the range of bicycle exploration of the region. Also, for those who don’t want to bike, the Ice Age Trail goes right through historic downtown Portage and out to the countryside. This has me thinking….could one load a canoe up on top of the bus for a float along the old Portage Canal & Fox River?
The possibilities of car-free exploration just got a whole lot better here. But folks, as with most public transit services, it’s use it or lose it!
Sorry I don’t have a direct link to info on the service yet (Brenda???), but I’d be curious to know about the costs on a per ride basis for us occasional riders.
